Right to Rest

Hearing for Colorado’s homeless Right to Rest Act delayed meanwhile people like Shyheim Temple try to survive next to the amphitheater in Civic Center Park as the temperature dropped from mid 60s to single digits in less than 48 hours.

Temple cleans the areas around Civic Center Park, where he and his fellow neighbors camp.

The Right to Rest Act, also known as the “homeless bill of rights,” seeks to establish certain rights for homeless people in Colorado

including “the right to use and move freely in public spaces, to rest in public spaces, to eat or accept food in any public space where food is not prohibited, and to have a reasonable expectation of privacy of one’s property.”

Shyheim takes the responsibility of cleaning up very serious

It’s failed at the committee level for three years in a row.

UPDATE:

After seven hours of testimony including over 100 people testifying in favor of the Homeless Bill of Rights and about five testifying against, the bill was voted down for the fourth year in a row with a vote of 10-3.

The news doesn't bother Shyheim, he still plans on making a life on the street

He makes bracelets from broken ones he finds in the trash and fixes up.

Shyheim has been living on "roofless" for a few years
